BlueXephos' "Shadow of Israphel" series.

This is a Youtube series by the Yogscast. It started off as a "let's play" of the game Minecraft (which I have reviewed here) and has evolved into a multiplayer series with millions of views.

The recurring characters

There are two protagonists, Honeydew and Xephos. Honeydew has a tendency to cause or be the victim of trouble, and Xephos has a habit of putting down way too many torches whilst mobs are attacking.

Honeydew's skin is that of a dwarf, a character we commonly see him play in other videogames. Xephos' original skin is of Captain Riker from Star Wars (as seen above) but has recently changed and he is now the "silk-shirted man" instead of the "space man".

There are also many other characters, such as Skylord Lysander and Swampy Bogbeard. Until recently, the duo were accompanied on their adventure by Knight Peculier.

Their quest

Israphel's Taint has begun to spread throughout the land of Minecraftia and there's only one way to push it back- to defeat Israphel himself. They also have to save Daisy Duke, a blacksmith who lived in Terrorvale with Knight Peculier (back when he was Old Peculier).

Not only is there the Taint to deal with, which affects people by ageing them or causing other negative effects, but something is infecting the desert and making it spread and cover the landmarks of Minecraftia.

My opinion of the series so far.

I really love this series. Not only is it one of the very few totally original Minecraft let's plays, but Honeydew and Xephos manage to keep their audience enticed to the point where Shadow of Israphel is their most requested series.

BBC recognition.

On the 10th July 2012, BBC news released this article on the Yogscast, calling them the 'Kings of Youtube'.
