My friends and I have been thinking about playing an MMORPG for a while, and this is the one that we chose.
As with WoW, there are several races to choose from- including Elf, Dwarf, Vampire and human. I usually play an Elf in an MMO because I think they're pretty- in WoW it's Blood Elf, for those that are interested.
So I built my character- an Elf Warrior named CptScarlett- and entered the game.

Tokyo Godfathers
Because today is Christmas Eve, I've decided to review something that fits in with the festive season. Tokyo Godfathers is a Christmas themed anime-film that came out in 2003.

The Hobbit (2012)
The hobbit is, in my opinion, a terrific story. It all began with Tolkein telling his children a story of fantasy and now it's a movie... Well, three of them. This is a review of part one- an unexpected journey.

Rise of the Guardians
It's been a while since I reviewed a film- either due to a lack of money or just a lack of good films, but I recently saw Rise of the Guardians at the cinema.

Port Royale 2
Fairly recently, the sequel to this game was released- meaning the price for this game went way down. SO I decided to buy it, as it looked like the kind of game I'd enjoy.

LoL Champion spotlight: Kayle
Kayle was one of the first Champions I bought in the game. I loved the fact that she was an angel and seemed relatively easy to play.

Plants vs Zombies
This adorable game, brought to us by Pop Cap, is a really fun game and a brilliant way to waste time. If you have nothing to do for a couple of days, or you have about twenty minutes of gaming time a day (about the time it takes to complete a level) then this is the game for you.

LoL Champion spotlight: Shyvana
Though she's supposedly one of the harder Champions in League of Legends to play, I really fell in love with Shyvana.

League of Legends
I don't play too many co-operative online games, because I hate having to rely on other people, so when a friend suggested I play League of Legends I was a little skeptical.

Dragon's Lair (NES)
So I went down to my local second hand gaming store to get a few games for the NES and this caught my eye. Although I had never heard of the game, the store owner guaranteed that it would take up time- and boy did I have a lot of time over the summer!
So I blew into the cartridge and bashed it against the NES a few times, then I put the game in the slot of the 25-year old console.

Guns of Icarus online
I started playing this game when the Beta came out, which was pretty fun but rather buggy. So I decided to go back onto the game and check out how it’s changed
since then.

I played the Dwarfs?!? demo a while back, but never scraped together the cash to buy it. Now, however, it is Free to Play on Steam!

The tale of Will the Reaper (Black Butler OVA)
Now, although I have reviewed the Black Butler anime previously, I feel that this OVA deserves a review all to itself. The reason for this is that it's just brilliant!

The Princess Bride (1987)
So yesterday I re-watched this and it amazed me how good a film it actually is. I mean, the fact it is set as someone reading the book to their sick grandchild is just pure genius in the first place, then having such an amazing script as well as brilliant casting... this is a film which truly has it all.

Munchkin!
Another different kind of review this week- a board game!
Munchkin is really, really awesome. I mean, really awesome- I just can't stress how awesome it is. It has fairly simple rules and brilliant mechanics so that, even when you lose, you just want to play again and again!

Black Butler: the musical
A while back I did a review on the anime series of Black Butler. I knew about the two musicals that had been produced as a spin-off of sorts, but the English sub of the first musical wasn't complete until fairly recently (and even now it's still a fan sub).

Super Mario bros 3
So I recently got this game to work on my NES (a very temperamental machine) by slamming it into the pins and holding it down until it clicks, so I figured that I should review it before the NES stopped working altogether.

Duck Hunt
This week's review is on the NES classic Duck Hunt.
This game, as you may have guessed from its name, is one in which you have to shoot at ducks. These ducks come out two by two and are scared into the air by your dog, who I hate.

Poke MMO
PokeMMO is, obviously, a Pokemon-based MMO game. The idea is that it is based off of FireRed in the Pokemon series.

BlueXephos' "Shadow of Israphel" series.
This is a Youtube series by the Yogscast. It started off as a "let's play" of the game Minecraft (which I have reviewed here) and has evolved into a multiplayer series with millions of views.

Triple Town
This is an in-browser game that can be found on both facebook and google+ (it is also now available on iOS and Android). The premise of the game is a simple 'match 3'. The difference between this and other 'match 3' games is that instead of gaining points after you match the items, they combine to make a higher level item. Once you have used up all of the squares available on the board, the level ends.

Travian
Travian is a browser-based strategy game. There are 3 tribes to choose from; Romans, Teutons and Gauls. If you're a new player, or just don't have much time on your hands due to school/work ect then it's suggested that you play Gaul, though I have managed to pull off playing Roman whilst also studying at University.

I may or may not be going through a slight retro phase at the moment. So I've decided to review Pac Man, the ultimate retro game.

What d'you mean WoW?
Ok, the layout of this game is very World of Warcraft. But what MMORPG isn't these days? There are other problems with it than that similarity.

Elite Beat Agents
Now, unusually, we have an American game to review. It's got all of the elements of the Japanese game Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan, but is only really a spiritual sequel.

Swords and Soldiers
Castle defender!
I love castle defender games, and this has got to be one of the best I have ever played. You start of as a Viking who has got to defend against various enemies. As the game progresses, new items and ways of using them become available to you- but your enemies also become tougher.

Towns
What is it?
Towns is a game where you control people in order for them to establish a colony. Unlike most city-building games, Towns also includes a dungeon level and sieges which help give the game more depth.

Minecraft
Yes, it's a little overplayed.
Since I first began playing minecraft, I've wanted to either do a let's play series or a review, but it has always seemed like too many people are doing it- and badly, quite often.
Now, I'm an avid viewer of the Yogscast and their many Minecraft series, but I don't just watch others play it and have been making my own adventure map since November 2011.

Recettear: an item shop's tale
It's adorable!
Recettear is a JRPG. Because it originated in Japan, it has your typical Japanese art style to it. What I really love is the fact there is a storyline- Recette is a young girl whose father has disappeared and left her massive debts. Tear, a fairy, appears to collect these debts- when she sees Recette, she ends up giving her the option of paying bit-by-bit rather than taking her house away, thus Recettear is born. Recettear is, by the way, Recette's item shop.

Sid Meier's Civilization V review
Setting up games
The game is relatively easy to set up, and if you don't know what to put as the settings then you can put it on "random" for pretty much everything. The pace at which you can play the game can also be altered, which is great for when you have a limited amount of time to play the game.

Greed Corp. Review
The settings menu
Now, I just opened Greed Corp. up to get into the settings. I realised how annoying they are. With a settings menu, there is usually quite a quick way to change settings- using a drop down menu for things like resolution or a scrollbar for things like sound or effects volume. Greed Corp. uses a click option for both, with each click for resolution acting in the same way as a drop down menu would but with the volume clicks only altering it by 1% per click, though you can hold down the button. A manual input here wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.

The muppets (2011) review
I saw this film when it first came out, in the cinema, and I have to admit that I enjoyed every minute of it. The setting, the cast and the plotline just worked together really well in this film and I am so glad- mostly because I'm a huge fan of the muppets in general and was a little worried that this film might not live up to my expectations of it.

Avengers Assemble review
Having now seen Joss Whedon's Avengers assemble twice, I feel that I need to review it. Now I have to be honest, I am not easily impressed where films are concerned so I didn't have very high hopes when I first went to see the film.

The Cat Returns review
Beginning note
Today, I will review The Cat returns. This is another film by studio Ghibli. It is quite considerably newer than My neighbour Totoro and therefore came at a time when the Western world was more accepting of Japanese culture. This film was released in Japan in 2002 and in the States a year later. My favourite dub has to be the Cat King, who is dubbed by Tim Curry!

Black Butler anime review
Beginning note
Today I will be reviewing the Black Butler anime. This anime was 2 seasons or 36 episodes long. The first season, of 24 episodes, was introduced to America on the eleventh of January 2011- by which I mean as a dubbed series, it had previously been out in a subbed variant. The second series is currently being dubbed but has not yet been released in the States.

My neighbour Totoro review
Beginning note
Today I will be reviewing My neighbour Totoro, the first Ghibli film I ever watched. This Ghibli film is the ninth in the Ghibli collection and was introduced to the USA in 1993, though it has been re-dubbed since then. Because Miyazaki (studio Ghibli creator) didn't want the film to alter from the Japanese, the name of Totoro remains unchanged.

Death Note manga review
The Japanese cover of book 1 |
I'll start off by saying that this is the first manga I read all the way to the end. The first manga I actually read a bit of was Fruits Basket, but I just couldn't get hold of the books. The girl that runs the local comic book store recommended that I read Death Note, so I did. And I am kinda glad I did. Now, I'm going to try and make this review have as few spoilers as possible, but I will do a very brief introduction.
Introduction to my blog
This is going to be my review blog. I will start off by reviewing manga and hopefully move on to films, books, comics, anime etc. The first proper blog I am going to do will be on the manga series Death Note.
However, I guess I'll have to introduce myself. My online name is MmRed and I'm a girl, currently 19 years old. I'm a University student who plays Magic the Gathering and a lot of video games (some will be reviewed eventually).
So stick around as I blog about stuff I've seen, read or played- either recently or in the past.
MmRed.
